New Course for Seabury Charitable Foundation Golf Tournament

Important Notice; Tournament postponed
To the Seabury community;
Due to unforeseen and uncontrollable weather related issues, Seabury must postpone The 8th Annual Seabury Charitable Foundation Golf Tournament, originally planned for Tuesday September 13th. The tournament has now been scheduled to tee off on the new date of September 27th, at the same time and still at the Blue Fox Run Golf Course – 65 Nod Road, Avon CT. Both Seabury and Blue Fox Run apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in your schedule and we hope to see all golfers, sponsors and guests on the 27th. Thank you for your patience and understanding in regards to this matter.

The 8th Annual Seabury Charitable Foundation Golf Tournament will tee off Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at a new course this year – Blue Fox Run – 65 Nod Road, Avon, CT. Seabury is proud to welcome back guest emcee, NBC 30 meteorologist Bob Maxon. Along with Bob, sponsors, residents, staff, golfers and guests are already looking forward to hitting the links at Blue Fox Run.
This year is an especially poignant year for tournament organizers as Seabury suffered the loss of its CEO John S. Mobley on August 1st. Mr. Mobley was the first and only CEO at Seabury during its twenty-year history.
With the tournament just over a month away, Seabury would like to honor its CEO by making this the most successful tournament to date. According to Foundation President Mark Hopper, “John developed the Foundation’s annual golf tournament, which combined a fundraising opportunity with one of his passions. This event was truly John’s vision, and he called on residents, staff, vendors and his friends to support it.”
“John was a creative thinker and an innovator in the field of aging services, and he was deeply committed to improving the lives of seniors, both at Seabury and across the nation,” said Pegeen Sullivan, V.P., Community Life and tournament organizer, “We truly want to make this the best year ever as our way of honoring his commitment and memory.”
Since the tournament’s first year, more than $250,000 after expenses has been raised to support Seabury’s programs and services for successful aging, including benevolent support for residents who have exhausted their financial resources through no fault of their own.
Many Seabury residents hail from communities in and around the Greater Hartford area and welcome the support of golfers and businesses from these surrounding communities at the 8th annual tournament. Anyone is welcome to participate, either via sponsorships, by taking your best shot as a golfer or contributing items for the Silent Auction – which includes trips (travel not included) to St. Kitts and to Jamaica, a glider plane ride and also an Ipad. Sponsorships at this year’s tournament range from a Tee Sponsor at $250 to a Gold Sponsor at $5,000, which includes 4 golfers and full logo recognition.
The entry fee for golfers is $175 per person or $700 per foursome and includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, contests, awards, dinner, silent auction and player gift. To learn more about becoming a sponsor, register to play, or make a donation to our silent auction, please contact Pegeen Sullivan 860-243-6026 or pegeensullivan@seaburyretirement.com, or Kaila Chianciola at 860-243-6041 or kailachianciola@seaburyretirement.com.
